About Corbin Russwin

About Corbin Russwin

Corbin Russwin traces its history to 1839, when Henry Russell and Cornelius Erwin began manufacturing plate locks. In 1902, their company merged with P. and F. Corbin, originally founded in 1849 by Philip and Frank Corbin and Ed Doen, to form The American Hardware Corporation.

After a series of acquisitions, in 1964 American Hardware was acquired by the Emhart Corporation. Later, Black and Decker purchased the company and combined the Corbin and Russwin brands to form Corbin Russwin. Corbin Russwin has its manufacturing facility in Berlin, Connecticut.

Corbin Russwin is one of twelve brands represented by ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions, a North American operating unit of ASSA ABLOY.
